Dear Colleagues,
Our warm greeting to all of you!
We are very proud of
the efforts of the St. Luke’s Cancer
Institute in preparing a balanced program
for this year’s 2nd
International Cancer Symposium jointly
sponsored with the Memorial Sloan Kettering
Cancer Center (MSKCC) and the St. Luke’s
College of Medicine. This joint venture is
made possible through our existing
Memorandum of Agreement with MSKCC making
St. Luke’s Medical Center as their only
overseas affiliate in the Philippines.
The comprehensive program solely on breast
cancer is indeed a welcome offering since it
is still the number one cancer among females
in the country and ranks second most common
cancer for both sexes despite being almost
exclusively encountered in females. The
increasing incidence and public awareness
brings about unique clinical scenarios that
need to be addressed. Our local experts and
foreign guests will try to dissect each
clinical problem and come up with their
expert advise.
We are also happy to note that the Symposium
includes a Postgraduate Course in Breast
Imaging for the physicians who cater to
breast cancer patients and a public forum
where patients can freely discuss issues of
coping with the demands of daily living.
We would like to congratulate the SLMC
Cancer Institute led by its Director, Dr.
Charity Charisse Viado-Gorospe, and the
Organizing Committee for a power-packed
program. We also welcome our foreign guests
and our attendees who will surely benefit
from this International Symposium.
Very truly yours,
